Six Pence Pub, which is one of the co-sponsors of the parade, will still have indoor festivities to enjoy during the afternoon, as well Beef O’Bradys.

So basically, if you want to do a mini pub crawl of sorts, you can still head to Market Street in Baxter and get your Irish on. Between Six Pence, O’Brady’s and Grapevine you’ll be all set!

I’ve been to Six Pence Pub in Fort Mill a handful of times since moving to Fort Mill in 2006. The restaurant has rarely disappointed!

The Six Pence is a beautiful restaurant both on the outside and the inside. There is a spacious dining room, a cozy bar area, a small outdoor patio as well as a terrace on the roof which is open during the warmer months of the year.

The menu has a nice variety of dishes, ranging from British fare such as Scotch Eggs and Bangers & Mash to more maintstream meals like chicken tenders or pot roast. For thirsty patrons, Six Pence has a wide variety of imported beers and an extensive wine list. Prices range from $5 for a basket of pub fries (which are outstanding and a “must have” in my opinion) to an $18 10 oz. rib eye steak entree with sides. There are also quite a few sandwich options on the menu averaging $8 including side items. There is also a kids menu available, with prices hovering around $5 and $6.

When I went to Six Pence recently, I ordered the Shrimp Salad sandwich on wheat bread with a side of pub fries. The sandwich was loaded with shrimp and seasoned to perfection. I was happy about the amount of shrimp I received because most times when I order something seafood related, the dish tends to be underpopulated with the actual seafood! In Six Pence’s case, their shrimp salad sandwich is highly recommended based on the taste, size of the sandwich and price ($8.95 + $1 for the pub fries).

The restaraunt offers drink specials almost every night, and the one I highly recommend is $5 martini night (on Wednesdays). I have been to Six Pence twice for martini night and their martinis are delightful. They have a chocolate martini which is particularly heavenly. They also offer $3 well drinks on the weekends and $2.50 Guiness drafts on Monday nights.

I have frequented this restaurant several times and the only thing has disappointed thus far was the french onion soup. I love french onion soup, and whenever I see it on the menu I make sure to try it. The version at Six Pence in Baxter was disappointing – they went heavy with the seasoning to the point where the aftertaste of the broth was disconcerting and I almost (almost) didn’t finish the soup. I have not ordered it since to determine whether I just got a “bad batch” or not.

If you are in the area and looking for reasonably priced, hearty food, Six Pence Pub is one great place to go. The restaurant is clean and orderly, the waitstaff is friendly, and the food is tasty. It is located in Baxter Village at 933 Market Street.

This year they are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day event this year, and are serving green beer, various drink specials, party favors, give-aways, and much more! If you want more information, feel free to call them at (803) 802-5885.
