Happy and Sad for Leland and Jerry

Two of our locals are on TV this week, and last night one had good news, one had bad.
Leland Graham, the Winthrop University grad, made it through his second night on “Jeopardy,” winning back the right to come back in tonight’s episode for a third night of competition. Much like his first night, he [...]

Spotlight: Rock Hillian Makes It To Day Two on “Jeopardy”

Ah ha! He was being coy! Rock Hill’s own Leland Graham had a terrific turn on “Jeopardy” last night, coming in first place after commanding the entire game from the third spot on Questioner’s Row.
Not only that, but I knew about 15% of the answers on last night’s board! That almost never [...]

Spotlight: Tuning in to “Jeopardy” Tonight?

I posted last week about the fact that there are a lot of local residents on reality tv lately. Well, you can add game shows to the list – tonight, Leland Graham, a Winthrop University grad now living in Rock Hill, will be appearing on “Jeopardy,” a show I’m not smart enough to watch. [...]

Spotlight: Chit Chat Baby in Fort Mill

I love supporting shops that are unique to the area. One such shop is headquartered in Charlotte but recently opened a storefront in Fort Mill. That store is Chit Chat Baby, which is a store dedicated to cute baby gear.

The Fort Mill location is at 1162 Fort Mill Highway (down off Tom Hall Street) and I recommend you go check it out. Not only that – but their online store is now offering a special for all ScoopMill readers through March 31, 2009. If you decide to shop on their website, use the code “ScoopMill” at checkout, and they will apply a 5% discount off of your entire purchase.*

Are You Watching Jerry on “Survivor?”

It seems like reality TV contestants from our area are everywhere nowadays. Most notable for York County is 99.1FM’s Leslie Nease, who appeared on “Survivor: China” a couple seasons ago. But we also enjoyed watching Petrozza come in 2nd place on “Hell’s Kitchen” last season. Other reality TV “stars” from our metropolitan [...]

Spotlight: Local Artisans

I love great homemade crafts – I love seeing what people create with their bare hands as opposed to something cheap and plastic built in a factory. During the spring and summer I research the various craft markets in our area so that I can support those artists as much as possible.

It’s also why I can spend hours upon hours surfing through the millions of listings at Etsy.com, one of the best crafters’ websites on the Internet today.

While surfing today, I thought to do a search on our local area and found some fantastic crafters in Fort Mill and the

Spotlight: Fort Mill DMV Arriving Soon!

I loathe the DMV – I won’t lie. I consider myself a good driver but have the unfortunately “bragging” rights to the fact that I failed the NJ written test in 2001 (I believe my failure was due to poorly written questions, a reason at which my spouse scoffs). I’m very happy to [...]
