A Long Overdue “Congrats”
By Jane | August 24th, 2009 | Category: Spotlight | Comments OffThis post is long overdue – my apologies for the delay!
Last weekend, the Winthrop University Department of Theatre and Dance hosted a Short Play Festival in which several playwrights were able to present their works and have them judged and awarded. Sheri Marvin, a Fort Mill Native, won first place for her one-act play “You Gotta Have Lunch,” starring three local students. Other playwright participants came fom Kings Mountain, Charlotte, Raleigh, Lexington, and Rock Hill.
The six plays were directed by students or graduates of the Department of Theatre and Dance of Winthrop University. At each performance, the audience voted for their favorite of the six plays, and the prize for Audience Favorite was awarded to Sheri Marvin on Sunday, August 16. She also won the Palmetto Script Writers award the same day.
Sheri is actively involved with Fort Mill Playhouse and is already slated to directed the Rock Hill Christmas play at this winter’s Christmasville festival.
Congrats to Sheri on her win!!
