Sanford Spoke in Fort Mill Today
By Jane | April 8th, 2009 | Category: Local Politics | Comments OffGov. Mark Sanford spoke to the Fort Mill Rotary Club today and continued to outline the reasons for his refusal of $700B in stimulus money designated for South Carolina. Sanford has been under considerable criticism for not taking the money to help fund school and public safety coffers in need of cash.
From The Herald:
Sanford also fought to disprove what he said were misconceptions about the stimulus debate, saying the $700 million now being discussed can’t go to other states. South Carolina has 18 months to choose what to do with it, Sanford told a packed room of about 200 people at the Fort Mill Golf Club.
In the meantime, it was also announced this morning that Senator Vincent Sheheen intends to introduce a bill that will REQUIRE Sanford to spend the $700 million.
Did anyone attend the meeting this morning? If so, did your opinion on the stimulus money change after hearing Sanford speak?
