Homes For Sale – Any Takers?
By Jane | January 31st, 2009 | Category: Real Estate News | Comments OffGiven today’s economy, I’m surprised that Fort Mill still offers million dollar homes to an undoubtedly small group of clientele (the recent lottery winner notwithstanding). I never envisioned Fort Mill as being a town that would have these super-luxury, 10K+ square feet homes. And yet here they are – languishing on the market as the housing boom goes bust.
There is a silver lining though – apparently Charlotte’s housing decline isn’t nearly as bad as the rest of the country. The depreciation for our area is hovering at about 10%, whereas most of the country is looking at a 25% drop.
In my own case, we recently financed our house and our house appraised 1% higher than our purchase price two and a half years ago. We were quite pleased by that, given the nature of the market right now.
Are you attempting to sell? Have you been on the market for a while, with no buyers? Be patient! It has officially become a buyer’s market and they’ll start coming out like flies in the sptring in an attempt to snap up a bargain. Who knows – maybe that million dollar home will be a bargain at $750K by then?
